Unit 3900 of the Army Specialized Training Program (ASTP) was established by the War Department at Oregon State College in March 1943. The program provided training for high grade technicians and specialists needed by the Army for the war effort. Most of the instruction was provided by regular Oregon State College faculty; E.B. The Department of Military Science was established at the University of Oregon in 1919. The school had sponsored military training through the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) program before the creation of a Military Science department. Military training at the University of Wyoming began in 1891 after the Board of Trustees established the School of Military Science and Tactics. The first commanding officer of the school was D.L.
